Customizing your plots in ProMVReleased almost five months ago, ProMV 14.02 makes it fast and easy for you to customize plots and share information. Ultimately you’ll save time and increase your productivity as you execute data mining projects and build multivariate models.

The feedback from early adopters has been very positive. They like the ability to create a custom template for all ProMV plots, annotate individual plots to highlight key findings, and save their workspaces to share with colleagues for review and further analysis.

Have you explored the new features yet? If not, here’s how to get started.

Create a custom template for all your plots in ProMV

ProMV Preferences DialogYou can now create a template for all your plots right in ProMV. Choose your favourite fonts and colours, or match them to your presentation and report templates for a consistent look and feel. There’s no need to customize each individual plot. Here’s how to create your custom plot template:

  1. Go to the Edit menu
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Choose Plot Defaults

In this dialog, you can change many plot defaults from font, size, and color of text to symbols, gridlines and plot canvases. You can also include a time stamp and username on every plot so you’ll always know who created it and when.

Annotate Key Findings Directly on your Plots

ProMV Annotations BarNew annotation tools allow you to highlight key findings right on your plots. To add annotations, first right-click on any toolbar and ensure that “Plot Annotation Tools” is checked.

Use the line, ellipse or freeform shape tools to highlight outliers, batch trajectory anomalies, variations in operating conditions, clustering or other features of interest.

You can also use the vertical or horizontal reference line to pinpoint the exact location of an observation. Your annotations can also be formatted within your custom plot template. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Edit menu
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Choose Annotation Defaults

Save and Share your ProMV Plots

In ProMV 14.02, all of your open plots are saved in your project, so you can resume your analysis right where you finished or pass the project along to a colleague for review. They’ll see your plot annotations and easily identify your key findings. They can add their own comments or create new plots and models to investigate further. It’s a great way to collaborate.
